Home medical suppliers organize committee

To ensure that the independent home medical equipment (HME) providers have a voice in public policy and a seat at the table for any healthcare reform initiative, a group of home medical equipment suppliers formed the Committee to Save Independent HME Suppliers (Martinez, Georgia). This non-profit business league was created to respond to growing threat recent policy changes pose to the future of independent medical suppliers and the patients they serve.

"For a long period, the industry has taken various positions and directions that have proven to be ineffective in changing political thinking about the home medical equipment industry," said David Petsch, owner of Petsch Respiratory in Augusta, Georgia, and managing director of the committee. "CSI: HME will implement strategies designed to change political mindsets by embarking on a new path to ensure the concerns of the independent HME provider community are being addressed."

Stentys establishes R&D in New Jersey

Stentys (Princeton, New Jersey) said that it has established U.S. operations in Princeton, where the company will focus its R&D efforts. The Princeton operation will be the cornerstone of the company's efforts when seeking FDA clearance to market its self-expanding and disconnectable stent platform.

"Establishing U.S. operations is a major milestone for Stentys' future commercial launch," said CEO and co-founder, Gonzague Issenmann. "This is a very exciting time, as we are also establishing a radically innovative and improved treatment for acute coronary syndrome (ACS)."

ACS procedures represent half of the $5 billion coronary stenting market.
