PHILADELPHIA The first attempt at using a technology for medical applications does not always work, but Gulya (Como, Italy) says there is life left in lasers as a means for checking glucose levels. Emanuel Bosi, MD, director of department of medicine at Ospedale San Raffaele (Milan, Italy), made the trip to the U.S. to give attendees at this year's edition of the scientific sessions by the American Diabetes Association (ADA; Alexandria, Virginia) a look at Gulya's pilot study, which Bosi said was encouraging enough to push the company to invest more in the idea.
