Picis (Wakefield, Massachusetts), a provider of care information systems for hospitals, reported the signing of Inova Health System in the Northern Virginia area, and Exempla Healthcare of Colorado.
Those two large hospital networks selected the Picis ED PulseCheck emergency department information system (EDIS) to automate more than 400,000 emergency department patient visits per year, adding to a national network of nearly 20 IDN-affiliated hospitals using ED PulseCheck.
"With various facilities across our diverse health system, Inova needed an emergency department information system that would allow us to easily share data between providers, from any emergency department location," said Laurie Eccleston, RN, information technology applications spokesperson, Inova Health System.
"Picis ED PulseCheck provides the best technology available to further enhance the productivity of our emergency department physicians and nurses and help them improve patient care," said Dave Pecoraro, chief information officer, Exempla Healthcare. "ED PulseCheck also provides our administrative and management teams with the data and tools to report on core measures and increase operational efficiency at our hospitals."
Exempla Healthcare hospitals implementing ED PulseCheck include Saint Joseph Hospital (Denver) and Lutheran Medical Center (Wheat Ridge, Colorado). The network has also engaged Picis Business Transformation Services.
Designed by and for emergency department clinicians, ED PulseCheck is a native Web-based system that combines patient tracking, physician and nursing documentation, charge management, order entry and risk management. Picis' technology integrates voice recognition, the intuitive PicisPen input device and biometric authentication.
In addition, Picis provides integration with existing hospital information systems. Inova Health System is installing the entire ED PulseCheck suite of products, including physician and nurse documentation and the PicisPen.
