Caroline Hammond has been named director of new business development of the Catheter and Disposables Technology (CDT) business of CardioTech International (Woburn, Massachusetts). Additionally, Daniel Ranum has been named senior project engineer and Andrew Kinser operations engineer for the company. Hammond has more than 15 years' experience in technology-based industries. Ranum joined CDT as a senior project engineer, having held positions at Boston Scientific for more than 10 years in various areas of R&D, quality and process development. Kinser previously was with 3M. CardioTech International develops coatings for medical devices.
Robert McCulloch was named chief financial officer as well as vice president of finance and administration for CardioVention (Santa Clara, California), a developer of minimally invasive surgical technologies. Previously, McCulloch was vice president, CFO and chief information officer at Somnus Medical Technologies. Privately held CardioVention developed the CORx System line of cardiopulmonary bypass products.
Andrew Green was promoted from director of regulatory affairs to vice president of regulatory affairs for Novoste (Norcross, Georgia), which develops vascular brachytherapy technology and systems.
Maggie Pax was appointed vice president of marketing and Kathleen Dennis, director of quality assurance for OmniSonics Medical Technologies (Wilmington, Massachusetts). Most recently Pax was vice president of business development and marketing with CareScout. Previously, Dennis was quality assurance director of corporate product data management at Boston Scientific. OmniSonics is focused on developing products to treat cardiovascular occlusive disease based on its Resolution 360 technology that enables the delivery of ultrasonic energy over the active length of a small-diameter, guidewire-like device in a diseased blood vessel.
Bruce Ross was promoted from vice president of sales, marketing and services to acting chief operating officer for Spectranetics (Colorado Springs, Colorado). Also, Guy Childs was promoted from director of finance to acting chief financial officer of the company. Spectranetics manufactures an excimer laser system and related accessory products that deliver excimer laser energy for use in minimally invasive cardiovascular surgical procedures.
Scott Huennekens was named president and CEO of Volcano Therapeutics (Laguna Niguel, California). He previously was president and CEO of Digirad. Volcano Therapeutics develops products for the detection and treatment of vulnerable plaques in the coronary or peripheral arteries.
