Trex Bio Inc. has closed an oversubscribed $84 million series B financing round to support development of its pipeline of novel therapies that modulate the immune system to restore human tissue immune homeostasis.

Inbrain Neuroelectronics SL closed a $50 million series B financing round to advance clinical trials for its graphene-based brain-computer interface therapeutics platform. The company also secured additional funding from Merck KGaA GmbH which will go towards developing the technology for application across both central and peripheral nervous systems.

Synox Therapeutics Ltd. extended its series B by a further $17 million as it announced the first patients have been dosed in a phase III study of emactuzumab in the treatment of tenosynovial giant cell tumor, a rare condition in which benign tumors grow in the soft tissue lining of joints and tendons.

Seaport Therapeutics Inc. has followed up its recent fundraiser with an oversubscribed $225 million series B financing that will help set it on the path to a phase IIb study in major depressive disorder. The company’s lead candidate is allopregnanolone, an endogenous neurosteroid that is taken orally and bypasses the liver. Once it is absorbed through the lymphatic system, allopregnanolone enters through a pathway that avoids the liver and the possibility of hepatoxicity and elevated liver enzyme counts, Michael Chen, Seaport’s chief scientific officer, told BioWorld.

The money enables the company to move the lead program, PS-002, for the treatment of IgA nephropathy to clinical proof of concept and advance programs in other complement-mediated kidney diseases, and in an undisclosed glomerular kidney disease.
