BD shines in Q4 with life sciences growing more than 30%

Becton, Dickinson and Co. (BD) reported good news Thursday, as it saw quarterly revenues of $4.784 billion for its fourth fiscal quarter, an increase of 4.4% over the prior-year period. Of note, the company’s life sciences segment saw worldwide revenues of $1.488 billion, representing an increase of 31.2% over the prior-year period as reported, or 31.4% on a currency-neutral basis. Taiwan launches new rules on safety updates and adverse event notifications for medical devices

Taiwan’s FDA rolled out two new supplementary regulations on periodic safety updates and adverse event notifications for medical devices in October. They are part of its Medical Device Management Law that was reported on Jan. 15. As Taiwan is stepping up innovation of and regulation for medical devices, the nation for the first time decided to separate the regulation of medical devices from pharmaceutical products. Read More

Recent FDA warnings for COVID-19 drill down into finer details of violative behavior

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected the U.S. FDA on the postmarket side as well as on the premarket side, but the focus of pandemic-driven warning letters has shifted over time. Amanda Johnston, senior attorney at Gardner Law of Stillwater, Minn., said on a Nov. 5 webinar the FDA’s emphasis lately has been closer to the agency’s traditional enforcement considerations after an initial wave of warnings dealing with flatly fraudulent products. PARIS – Oncomfort SA has entered a partnership with Vygon SA for distribution of its Sedakit in six countries in Europe. The synergy between Vygon’s specialization and Oncomfort’s fields of application aims to enable greater acceleration of the adoption of Digital Sedation by health care professionals and patients. “Thanks to this strategic partnership, our new technology for relieving patient pain and anxiety without medication is going to be widely available in Europe,” Mario Huyghe, CEO of Oncomfort, told BioWorld.
