Informed Data Systems Inc. (IDS), doing business as One Drop, scooped up $98.7 million in new financing and commitments to accelerate the expansion of its digital health platform beyond diabetes. The company raised $34.7 million in a series C round led by Bayer AG, of Leverkusen, Germany. Bayer also committed $64 million in development fees and commercial milestones related to a 2019 licensing agreement to leverage the One Drop solution across multiple therapeutic areas.
LONDON – European scale-up of an artificial intelligence tool for stratifying and personalizing treatment of COVID-19 patients according to the type of complications they are likely to experience will get underway in September, following initial validation. The tool, developed by researchers at the Hospital Clinic Barcelona, Spain, was ‘trained’ on more than a trillion anonymized data points retrieved from the clinic’s electronic health records system.
Deep Lens Inc.’s artificial intelligence trial screening and enrollment platform, Viper, will be integrated with Franciscan Health Cancer Center's electronic health record to enable matching of cancer patients with suitable clinical trials starting at diagnosis over the next month. By working together, the two Midwest-based organizations hope to increase the number of patients benefiting from clinical trials and overcome some of the challenges to participation posed by the pandemic.
The U.S. FDA has greenlighted two new modules for Siemens Healthineers’ AI-Rad Companion platform, giving radiologists new artificial intelligence (AI) tools to assist in interpreting magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) studies of the brain and prostate. The AI-Rad Companion Brain MR for Morphometry Analysis and AI-Rad Companion Prostate MR for Biopsy Support join earlier intelligent software modules for Chest CT.

Tech-enabled diabetes and chronic conditions management company Cecelia Health has secured $13 million in a series B financing led by Rittenhouse Ventures and Endo Investors. Other participants in the round included Boston Millennia Partners, SustainVC and G100 Capital. The funds will be used to speed and further scale adoption of the company’s coaching and telemedicine tools and to build out digital health capabilities.
