Boston Scientific Corp. obtained a CE mark for its latest self-expanding transcatheter aortic valve replacement technology, the Acurate Prime, opening up a new access point for increased sales and profitability in its structural heart division this year.
The second generation of Boston Scientific Corp.’s Acurate Neo2 valve has demonstrated better performance than its predecessor, showing a threefold reduction of paravalvular leakage (PVL) said researchers. During the hotline/late-breaking trials session on May 17 at the EuroPCR meeting held in Paris, Andrea Buono, interventional cardiologist at Fondazione Poliambulanza Istituto Ospedaliero in Brescia, Italy, presented results from a large study comparing the performance of Acurate Neo and Acurate Neo2 in 13 Italian centers.
Boston Scientific Corp. presented late-breaking data at EuroPCR 2021 demonstrating positive procedural performance for its Acurate Neo2 aortic valve system, including low rates of paravalvular leakage (PVL) and permanent pacemaker implementation (PPI). The findings are good news, following the older Acurate Neo’s failure to demonstrate noninferiority to Medtronic plc’s Evolut R in the so-called SCOPE II study.
Boston Scientific Corp. said it is initiating a global, voluntary recall of all unused inventory of the Lotus Edge aortic valve system, blaming complexities associated with the product delivery system. The Marlborough, Mass.-based company emphasized that the valve itself continues to achieve positive and clinically effective performance post-implant. However, because of the time and investment needed to develop and reintroduce a delivery system, the company believes it is necessary to retire the entire Lotus platform immediately.
Boston Scientific Corp. reported the controlled launch of its Acurate Neo2 aortic valve system in Europe. The next-generation transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) technology extends the clinical performance of the original Acurate Neo platform and includes an expanded indication for patients with aortic stenosis.
